2017 White Burgundy presented by Jonathan Pedley MW

  • A&O Shearman One Bishops Square London E1 6AD (map)
2017 White Burgundy presented by Jonathan Pedley MW
from £70.00

Hailed variously as "a modern Classic", "a delicious vintage" and "a vintage of transparency and elegance" by critics, 2017 promised to be one of the finest vintages of the 2010s for white Burgundy, eclipsed perhaps only by the superlative 2014 vintage. Following the hail and frost-created shortfalls of 2016, favourable conditions, particularly through the harvest season, resulted in ripe and healthy fruit, and a return to more "normal" yields. We are very excited to present a selection of these wines, many of which were secured on release, having had nearly eight years to slumber and to develop their full potential.

Terroir-definition and character being so key to Burgundian wines, we are pleased to present wines from the very south of the Côte de Beaune in Santenay, to the very north of the Côte de Nuits in Marsannay. We have also sourced wines from across all levels, beginning with the Bourgogne Blancs, through village and premier crus, and crowned off with the majestic grand cru Corton-Charlemagne from magnum. We are also delighted to welcome back long-standing friend of the Society, Jonathan Pedley MW, to walk us through what will surely be a magnificent vinous journey.

The full line-up of wines will be as follows:

Bourgogne Blanc, Domaine Ballot-Millot

Bourgogne Blanc, Domaine Henri Boillot

Santenay Blanc, Clos de Malte, Maison Louis Jadot

Marsannay Blanc, Les Longeroies, Domaine Bruno Clair

Chassagne-Montrachet, 1er Cru Morgeot, Domaine Lamy-Pillot

Puligny-Montrachet, 1er Cru Champ Canet, Château de Meursault

Hospices de Beaune, Meursault "Cuvée Loppin"

Corton-Charlemagne, Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot (en magnum)
