Blanc de Blancs from Around the World presented by Anne Krebiehl MW

  • Pinsent Masons 30 Crown Place London, England, EC2A 4EB United Kingdom (map)
Blanc de Blancs from Around the World presented by Anne Krebiehl MW
from £60.00

Blanc de Blancs – or traditional method sparkling wine made purely from white grapes  – promises deliciousness, pleasure and elegance all at once. And while the region of Champagne made this style famous – especially with the wines from the deep chalk soils of the Côte des Blancs – this expressive style of sparkling wine is now made around the world – so what better way of comparing different origins than with a tasting dedicated to Chardonnay-based fine fizz? We will of course compare Champagne’s own blanc de blancs with wines made in England, not too far away and sometimes even on similar soil, but we will then stack these wines up against masterful examples from Italy, South Africa, California and New Zealand. I am sure we are in for some delicious comparing and contrasting.

We will be tasting two champagnes, followed by two sparkling wines from England, where the blanc de blancs style is becoming increasingly popular. Then we will traverse the globe, tasting blanc de blancs wines from South Africa, California, New Zealand and Italy.

The wines we will be tasting are as follows:

Jacquart Blanc de Blancs 2014 Champagne

Pieter Ferreira Blanc de Blancs 2016 (South Africa)

Pierre Péters Cuvee de Reserve Blanc de Blancs Champagne

Ferrari Perlé, Trento 2017 (Italy)

Sugrue Cuvée Boz Blanc de Blancs 2015 (England)

Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs Brut 2019 (California)

Gusbourne Estate Blanc de Blancs 2018 (England)

No. 1 Family Estate Cuvée Blanc de Blancs (New Zealand)
