We are delighted to welcome to our third online wine tasting Markus Mleinek, cellarmaster at the renowned wine estate of Dr Heger in Baden, south-western Germany.

Weingut Dr Heger  has exceptional sites on the steep slopes of the volcanic Kaiserstuhl, a  small group of hills across from Alsace.  A member of the VDP, the elite association of producers of fine, terroir-driven wines in Germany, Weingut Dr Heger produces handcrafted wines of structure, minerality, elegance and depth.  South West Baden pinots, as Jancis Robinson points out,  are “under appreciated abroad” and Weingut Dr Heger is one of her favourite producers there. 

Markus will present four of the wines currently available – a 2018 Grauburgunder Sonett (Pinot Gris), a 2017 Ihringer Winklerberg Weissburgunder Premier Cru (Pinot Blanc), a 2017 Ihringer Winklerberg Chardonnay Premier Cru, and a 2016 Achkarrer Schlossberg Spätburgunder Grand Cru (Pinot Noir).

The four bottle pack is available for purchase from specialist German wine merchants The WineBarn, and costs £143.25 including duty, VAT, and delivery in England. The Zoom tasting  is free to attend.  Members and guests do not have to purchase the wines in order to attend the tasting and could opt to taste similar wines instead, or simply to listen. We expect the tasting to run for approximately one hour.  Please feel free to pass along the details to friends and colleagues.
