2010 Southern Rhône: Chȃteauneuf-du-Pape
2010 Southern Rhône: Chȃteauneuf-du-Pape
"… beautifully ripe, racy, terroir-driven wines for aging" (Wine Spectator)
The 2010 vintage in the Southern Rhône was hailed as exceptional – a perfect ten, according to the Wine Society. The wines are praised for their balance and freshness, their depth and intensity, and their power and elegance. According to Antonio Galloni’s Vinous, 2010 is universally regarded as one of the epic vintages of this generation for Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with growers comparing it to legendary years such as 2005, 1990, 1978 and 1959. Our chosen wines are primarily made in family-run vineyards, some in very small quantities, in styles ranging from modern to traditional. In a terrific vintage and with some of the leading wines, every wine should be at least outstanding.
The wines are:
We are very privileged to welcome back to the Society John Livingstone-Learmonth, the UK's foremost expert on Rhône wines, whose outstanding knowledge of the region's wines impressed members attending last year's engaging Northern Rhône tasting.
Tickets for this unmissable evening cost £50 for members and £60 for guests. As always, this represents stunning value for the quality of the wines, and is only possible because the wines were laid down for its members by the Society.
